December large format workshop in the peak district

This workshop is aimed at:

Large format photographers of all levels – from those who want to try out large format landscape photography for the first time or are relatively new to it, to those that are experienced and just want to spend the weekend at great Peak District locations with fellow large format photographers. With small group sizes we tailor the structure of the workshop around the individuals on the workshop.

Basic Itinerary

We will meet at 9am for a 9.30am start. During an informal meet and greet we will establish the workshop participants level of large format knowledge and go over what each person wants to achieve from the weekend. For those new to large format we will go over basic camera use, equipment and functionality.

We will spend the weekend exploring some fantastic Peak District locations with our large format cameras. Where we visit is very much dictated my the weather in December – but Dav has a great knowledge of photographic locations in the Peaks and will take us to the best places for the given weather conditions.

Back at the hotel on Saturday evening, we’ll have the always impressive tapas meal and then talk some more about large format photography – Dav and Tim will show some of their transparencies and we aim to have developed some of your photos from the day which we will be able to have a look at on the light box.

We will aim for a sunrise on the Sunday morning (thankfully not too early in December!), if you prefer a later start the sunrise isn’t compulsory. We will then spend the rest of Sunday out in the field at a couple of locations in the Peak District.

What you need to bring

Outdoor clothing – being the Peak District there's a reasonable chance of bad weather, therefore we ask you to bring waterproof clothing (because we still shoot in the rain!) warm outdoor wear and outdoor footwear. If you have wellies they may be useful too!

Whilst we are able to hire you large format equipment, we request that you bring your own tripod.

Extra film over the amount provided – we can provide you with extra film which will be charged at cost. We can provide changing tents so you are able to load your own film at the hotel.

We do not cover personal accident insurance or travel insurance and recommend that you adequate personal insurance

Extras

We don’t expect you to have your own Large Format equipment (but if you do that’s great). Therefore we are able to provide you with a large format package consisting; use of a large format camera with lens (we have a number of different kinds and you will be able to try out different designs throughout the weekend). dark cloth, loupe, spot light meter, film holders.
The cost to hire the large format kit for the weekend is £30

If you have shot extra sheets of film beyond the 6 we supply we can process those for you at £3 a sheet and provide hi-res drum scans for £12 a sheet.
